MISSION STATEMENT

Mission Statement:  To positively affect people through storytelling who will positively affect others who will positively affect others.

If you think about it, storytelling is the most powerful tool available to use.  Stories can shape minds, inspire, enlighten, and entertain.  The world’s greatest teachers taught through parables; stories, essentially.  Stories can transcend and unite cultures.  EVERYBODY loves a good story!

So why on Earth am I here?  I want to positively affect people through stories.  Whether I’m acting in that story, directing it, writing it, producing it; whether it’s on stage, on screen, on television, in a song, or in a book; whether it’s for an audience of millions worldwide or an audience of one.  I want the story I’m telling people to affect them, to make them think, or laugh, or cry, or anger them, or surprise them.

But I don’t want it to stop there.  That’s why I included the last part of my mission statement: “who will positively affect others who will positively affect others.”  If what we do has no lasting effect, what’s the point?  If it stops at the first person, why do it? But if our contribution to this world makes others want to go out and make their own contributions, that is where people can change the world.  So if I do a ridiculous interpretive dance to a Tori Amos song, do I think I’m changing the world through my lack of dance talent?  No.  But the point is to visualize past that.  I think about the person who watches my inane video, laughs, goes back to work refreshed and saves someone’s life on the operating table who then lives to go home, raise their family, and watch their daughter go off to college where she’ll become a brilliant musician who inspires people around the world.  All because of Tori Amos' inability to ununciate properly (watch the video, you'll understand).

I enjoy thinking about how we’re all connected.  And how if we’d focus on positively affecting those we encounter in hopes that they will go out and do the same in their own way, what a difference it could make in this world.  So I choose to do that through storytelling.
